Pilgrim HouseUnitarian Universalist FellowshipFood ShelfPH supplies volunteers who work every Tuesday night at the Ralph Reeder Food Shelf in New Brighton. The food shelf is located north of the junction of I-694 and Silver Lake Road in the old Pike Lake School. The food shelf website is http://www.moundsviewschools.org/comm_edu/food_shelf.asp. Current Food Shelf NeedsThe food shelf is now experiencing the summer shortages. Especially needed are flour, sugar, oil, salt, canned chicken, baked beans, cake mix, shampoo, broth, paper towels, toilet paper, tissues, cleaning products, large diapers, presweetened cereal, woman’s hygiene products, other personal care items, mandarin oranges, juice, snacks, ketchup, other condiments, tomato paste, hamburger & tuna helper, spam, spaghettios, and canned carrots. Note that the food shelf can usually purchase more for the dollar than individuals can, so checks are always welcome. Please be aware that clients normally do not select their own food items. For this reason, unusual items, which may not appeal to many people, should be avoided. Also, most of the clients are families with children, so items children will like are especially welcome. Food shelf items are normally collected the first Sunday of the month (our Soup Sunday) at PH. For information on volunteering at the food shelf, see Activities. Last year, PH donated a total of 345 pounds of food. Volunteer to work at the Ralph Reeder Food Shelf in New BrightonVolunteers are needed!
